PSG Defeats Marseille on Penalties to Claim Trophee des Champions Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now won the prestigious trophy on 14 different occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain needed a stoppage-time leveler followed by a perfect penalty shootout to get past their arch-rivals in Kuwait and secure a fourth straight French Super Cup title.

The Champions League holders appeared to be coasting towards a comfortable win in the match featuring the French league champions and the Coupe de France holders after Ousmane Dembele opened the scoring in the opening stages.

However, the southern French side fired twice in the closing moments to take a shock advantage. First, the English forward scored from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking turn of fortune, the Portuguese striker grabbed a crucial leveler in the final moments to send the match into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Chevalier then stood as the hero, saving crucial attempts from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and the young talent all scored with composure for PSG to complete a convincing shootout win.

Now 14-time winners PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Olympique de Marseille after completing a domestic double, have now lifted this trophy for the twelfth time in the past 13 years.
